Hawkman is a DC Comics superhero. The original Hawkman (Carter Hall) first appeared in Flash Comics #1 (1940). Several incarnations of Hawkman have appeared in DC Comics since Carter Hall (Katar Hol, Fel Andar, Zauriel, and Charley Parker). All of them are characterized by the use of archaic weaponry and by large artificial wings (attached to a harness made from the special Nth metal that allows flight). Hawkman was adde to the roster of the Justice League four year later.
