The main characters in InuYasha are InuYasha, a hanyô (half-demon), Kagome Higurashi, the reincarnation of Kikyo, Miroku, a hôshi (low ranking monk), Sango, a yôkai taijiya (demon slayer), Shippo (a fox demon), and Kirara (Sango's faithful nekomata). InuYasha's main rival is Sesshomaru, who happens also to be his half-brother.
